What are Ebook Launch's print book formatting parameters for fiction?

The following are Ebook Launch's print book formatting parameters for fiction books. Formatting is a matter of choice. Justified vs Flush Left, font type, font size, etc. The following is what we have chosen so if you require something different, let us know before formatting begins.

Title Page:

  • Book Title font style: Copperplate
  • Book Title font size: ~36 to 44 points (or what looks best)
  • Text centered horizontally and vertically.
  • Or you can order at table of contents with the cover fonts here: https://ebooklaunch.com/cover-design-extras/
  • Copyright Page

    • The copyright page will appear on the backside of the title page.
    • The text is centered vertically or aligned to the bottom.

    Chapter Heading:

    • Text centered horizontally
    • Font style: Felix Titling
    • Font size: 18 to 24 point
    • If the chapter has a sub-title, then it will be displayed below the heading/number.

    Body Text:

    • Font style: Adobe Garamond Pro
    • Font size: 12 point
    • Text: full justification (The text is aligned along the left and right margin. Note that spacing between words will vary so that the text is flush with both margins.)
    • Line spacing: at least 15 points
    • We usually don't use hyphenation, but when we do, we use them sparingly. If you want hyphenation to be used, let us know and we will turn hyphenation on. (please let us know of any changes like this before formatting begins)
    • Widow/orphan control: On (This stops single lines/words from being separated from paragraphs by new pages. The bottom margin may vary as a result)
    • Curly quotation marks

    Headers:

    • Font style: Garamond
    • Font size: 11 point
    • Centered
    • Small Caps
    • Author name on even number pages (Left/Verso pages)
    • Book title on odd number pages (Right/Recto pages)

    Footers:

    • Font style: Garamond
    • Font size: 11 point
    • Page numbers are set to 'Centered' with the first section starting at number 1. Odd numbers on the right/recto pages, and even numbers on the left/verso pages

    Table of Contents:

    • A table of contents is not inserted into a novel, novella, or short story unless requested.

    Margins:

    • Top: 0.5 inches
    • Bottom: 0.5 inches
    • Inside (gutter): 0.75 inches (may vary depending on the total number of pages)
    • Outside: 0.5 inches

    Layout:

    • Chapters start following the last page of the previous chapter.
Please request if you require them to start on the right-hand side/odd-numbered pages.

    Paragraph Style:

    • The first line of a paragraph is indented except for the first paragraph of each chapter and paragraphs following a divider (eg. ***). (Indent of the first line is 0.3 inches)

    Images:

    • Your images will be used as you have provided them to us. If you require anything done to them, such as the addition of borders, shadows, etc., please let us know before formatting.
    • With this in mind, try to provide the best quality images you have. The higher the quality, the better (we can scale down if necessary). Small, low-resolution images do not print well. Please note that we cannot improve the quality of the images you provide.
    • The images will be within the margins of the page as we do not use 'bleed.'

    Bleed:

    • We do not use bleed, so assume 'No Bleed' for your book unless we specifically say otherwise.
