What are Ebook Launch's print book formatting parameters for non-fiction?
The following are Ebook Launch's print book formatting parameters for non-fiction books. If you require something different, let us know before formatting begins.
Title Page:
- Book Title font style: Copperplate
- Book Title font size: 22 to 44 point
- Text Centered Horizontally and Vertically

Copyright Page:
- Text Centered Vertically
Chapter Headings:
- Font style: Calibri
- Font size: 16 to 24 point
- Subheading font style: Calibri
- Subheading font-size: 12 to 20 point
Body Text:
- Font style: Calibri
- Font size: 12 point
- Text: full justification (The text is aligned along the left and right margin. To accomplish this, the word-spacing is adjusted so that the text falls flush with both margins.)
- Line spacing: At least 15 pts
- We usually don't use hyphenation but when we do we use it sparingly. If you want hyphenation to be used, let us know and we will turn it on. (please let us know of any changes like this before formatting begins)
- Widow/orphan control: On (This stops single lines/words from being separated from paragraphs by new pages. The bottom margin will vary as a result)
- Curly Quotation Marks
Headers:
- Font style: Cambria
- Font size: 11 point
- Centered
- Author name on even-numbered pages. This may be in the footer with the page number if there are a lot of subheadings
- Book title on odd-numbered pages. This may be in the footer with the page number if there are a lot of subheadings
Footers:
- Font style: Cambria
- Font size: 11 point
- Page numbers set to 'Outside' with the first section starting on page 1. Odd numbers on the right pages, even numbers on the left pages.
Table of Contents:
- A table of contents will be inserted.
Margins:
- Top: 0.5 inches
- Bottom: 0.5 inches
- Inside (gutter): 0.75 inches, 0.85 inches for books with 400-700 pages, 0.875 for books with over 700 pages
- Outside: 0.5 inches
Layout:
- Chapters start on the right-hand side/odd numbered pages.
Paragraph Style:
- Block paragraph style
Images:
- Your images will be used as you have provided them to us. If you require anything done to them, such as the addition of borders, shadows, etc., please let us know before formatting.
- Please note that if you have images in your book, they must be at least 300 DPI.
- Please note that we cannot improve the quality of the pictures/images that you provide
- The images will be within the margins of the page as we do not use 'bleed'.
Tables:
- we insert the tables you provide. Please remember that the file you submit may be wider than the final width of your book formatted for print/paperback, therefore, the tables may be narrower in the final formatted copy
Bleed:
- We do not use bleed so assume 'No Bleed' for your book unless we specifically say otherwise
