Does Ebook Launch accept a PDF file for formatting or editing?

No, we do not accept PDF files (or files converted from a PDF) for formatting or editing.

The PDF, by its very nature, is not meant to be edited. It was created as a way of viewing a document on different platforms without losing the layout. It is as close to a print document as you can get and about as difficult to edit.

While converting a PDF to a Word document is straightforward with Adobe's PDF to Word conversion service, many issues arise during this process. During conversion, the layout of the PDF is preserved as much as possible in the Word document, which results in the addition of many extraneous, hidden non-print characters. These need to be removed and cleaned up during the formatting process, which we have found to be a very inconsistent and time consuming process.
